Tangible Interaction Video Shoot

Tangible Interaction Video shoot

The one thing that jumped out at me while interviewing Alex Beim was the notion of his desire to bring back people’s sense of wonder. Remember that wide-eyed wonderment you had as a child as you explored the world by venturing out into the space around you? Alex (founder of Tangible Interaction) explains that the name for Tangible Interaction comes from the description of the space we play in. There’s something magical about interacting with the world around you in a tangible and playful way and Alex and the team at Tangible Interaction spend their time creating fun, simple, interactive designs.

Tangible Interaction

I relished the opportunity to interview Alex and shoot some video of the Tangible Interactive studio space. This company is unique creating simple but powerful experiences for people all around the world. Whether it’s their Zygote Interactive Balls at concerts and big events or their interactive luminescent jellies to the Seed of Truce public artworks this team’s creativity knows no bounds and they will use anything to build something fun to play with.

They have a wide range of clients including the band Arcade Fire, Blue Man Group, Samsung, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Illuminate Yaletown, Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver Aquarium as well as doing work for non-profit organizations.

The video of the interview with Alex, the studio and surrounding area was shot on my Canon Vixia HF S200. I edited and complied other videos provided to me by Alex. The music is by the Autobahn Birds.

There’s much more interview footage and there’s much more to say about Tangible Interaction that it could probably be put into a short documentary, but for now this video is a short introduction to Tangible Interaction. Hope you enjoy and are inspired by the video!
